In 2014 the Day of Early Music festival was transformed into AlbaNova, Midsummer Festival for Musical Creation and Heritage. This new format aims to build bridges between past and present. The programme includes premieres of contemporary work inspired by the past and early music as it has never been heard before. Visitors will experience a mixture of historic concerts, installations and workshops in the Grand Commandery Alden Biesen in Bilzen, in the province of Limburg. New productions and young talent are staged at the festival, which also nourishes and supports developments in creation and historical performance practice. The festival is a meeting place for music lovers and musicians, and young and experienced listeners.
Alba Nova takes places on the last Sunday in June.
