Bart Naessens studied organ with Luc Ponet and obtained his specialization diploma organ in Paris in the field of "French symphonic organ music". In 2007 he graduated for harpsichord and in 2008 he obtained his master's degree in orchestral conducting.
Naessens' musical activities take place in many different areas. On the one hand he is a highly respected and renowned continuo player, on the other hand he is seen both solo and in chamber ensembles on concert stages in Belgium and abroad with the most diverse repertoires, ranging from early polyphony to creations by contemporary composers. As a result, he is regularly asked by the most prominent musicians and renowned ensembles and orchestras such as Zefiro Torna, Il Gardellino, Collegium Vocale Gent, Vlaams Radiokoor, and Currende.
In 2010 a long dream became reality with the foundation of the ensemble BachPlus, where he wants to create a stage for the performance of the (cantata) repertoire of J.S. Bach and his contemporaries, together with Elisabeth Hermans. This project is currently becoming an extraordinary success both at home and abroad and has managed to charm many music lovers with their original and unique approach to Bach’s oeuvre.
Naessens is also founder-conductor of the orchestra X-Travaganza, where he could already be heard on (inter)national stages.
