After a career as a solo trombonist in the Bamberg Symphoniker (DE), Benjamin Haemhouts focused on conducting and has been a guest conductor with national and international orchestras. In 2008, Haemhouts became the principal conductor of Casco Phil, a Belgian orchestra that emphasizes contemporary music combined with classical music.

Benjamin Haemhouts contributes to projects for socially disadvantaged children and is a keynote speaker in orchestral workshops for companies and their management teams, making him a pioneer in alternative cultural financing in Belgium. In recent years, contemporary dance has played a more prominent role in his work as a conductor and creative mind. Since 2019, he is also the artistic director of the Antwerp Spring Festival.
