B'Rock Orchestra

An online special by:

B'Rock Orchestra was set up in Ghent in 2005 by harpsichord player Frank Agsteribbe, double bass player Tom Devaere, Tomas Bisschop and Hendrik Storme. At its basis was an urge for renewal and rejuvenation in the world of early music. The selected international musicians specialise in historically informed performance practices.

B'Rock Orchestra combines established works by baroque composers with the lesser-known repertoire of the 17th and 18th centuries. It focuses especially on giving first performances of new music written with its historic instruments in mind. In its cross-genre productions, early music is combined with theatre, visual art and/or video. The orchestra also commissions new work and collaborates with personalities from the music- and theatreworld.
