Frederik Neyrinck (°1985) studied piano with Piet Kuijken in Stuttgart and Graz and composition with Jan Van Landeghem, Marco Stroppa and Clemens Gadenstätter in Brussels. He has worked with various ensembles and soloists in Belgium and abroad. He currently lives and works in Vienna.
During 2017-2018, he was the “season’s composer” of the Concertgebouw in Bruges, which resulted among others in the project “Take Out Obrecht”, a concert trail through the historical city centre of Bruges performed by different soloists, choirs, ensembles and orchestras.
He is also very active in the field of (children’s) music theatre and opera. He currently has a residency at LOD muziektheater, which resulted in the chamber opera “i c o n” (2018) and the music theatre play “Zolang hij niet zichzelve kent” (2018). Other projects include among others “Der Bär der nicht da war” (State Theatre Oldenburg, music theatre for children, 2017) and “Homo Deus Frankenstein” (Kopergietery, makemake produktionen, I Solisti, music theatre for children, 2019).
As a pianist he was member of Ensemble Platypus (2013-2018), an ensemble for contemporary music in Vienna. He received also twice the NASOM-bursary: in 2016-2017 for his duo together with Doris Nicoletti (flute) and in 2020-2021 for his duo with Teresa Doblinger (bass clarinet/dance).
