Hendrickje Van Kerckhove studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp, and acquired a postgraduate at the Flanders Opera Studio and at the Queen Elisabeth Musical College, where she was coached by Susanne Eken and José Van Dam.
In 2005, Van Kerckhove made her first appearance at the Bayerische Staatsoper in München and in 2008 at the Theater an de Wien. She subsequently sang in, among other operas, Luigi Nono's ‘Al gran sole carico d’Amore’ (DE) and Despina in ‘Cosi fan tutte’ (FR), Adèle in ‘Fledermaus’ and Clorinda in ‘La Cenerentola’. In autumn 2014, she sang Claire in ‘Quai Ouest’ by the French composer Régis Campo. In the season 2015-2016, Van Kerckhove has been singing the roles of Sandmännchen and Taumännchen in ‘Hänsel und Gretel’ at the Nationale Opera Amsterdam (NL) and Johanna Barker in ‘Sweeney Todd’ at la Monnaie. In deSingel, together with pianist Nicolas Callot, she performed an evening with songs by Grieg, Schumann and Richard Strauss in the framework of a song recital series.
