Lucas Blondeel

Lucas Blondeel studied piano at the Royal Conservatory in Antwerp. He completed his studies at the Universität der Künste in Berlin (DE) with Professor Klaus Hellwig. He also spent many years studying the pianoforte with Jos Van Immerseel, Bart Van Oort and Malcolm Bilson.

Since 1995, Blondeel has been performing in most European countries and in Japan, China, Singapore and the US. In addition to his work as a soloist, he regularly plays in a piano duo with Nicolas Callot, with clarinettist Annelien Van Wauwe and with soprano Liesbeth Devos. He has recorded music by Schubert, Haydn, Albert Huybrechts, Strauss, Mahler, Weinberg and Prokofiev.

Since 2012, Blondeel is a senior lecturer at the Akademie für Tonkunst in Darmstadt (DE), and in 2018 he was appointed Professor for piano at the Universität der Künste Berlin.
