Lucien Posman (°1952) studies at the conservatories in Ghent and Antwerp. Roland Coryn was his mentor for composition. Posman is artistic senior lecturer at the Royal Conservatory of the Ghent School of Arts. He is chairman of ComAV, Flanders Composers Archipelago, an association dedicated to the interests of composers active in Flanders. Posman is also a member of The Royal Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts.
As a composer, Posman is a representative of postmodernism. His compositions comprise a symphony, an opera, concerti for piano and for violin, chamber music for various ensembles and a relatively large number of vocal works. His works based on the texts of William Blake are the most important part of his oeuvre: six cantata, six choruses and twenty-five Songs of Experience for varied distributions.
His work is performed by prominent musicians and ensembles and broadcast by different radio stations in Belgium and abroad. A number of his works have been awarded composition prizes.
