Petra Vermote

Petra Vermote (°1968) studied solfège, guitar, chamber music, harmony, counterpoint, fugue and analysis. She also studied composition with Frank Nuyts, Jan Rispens, Lucien Goethals en Roland Coryn. She earned a master in music, specialising in composition with Luc Van Hove. Vermote plays guitar as a soloist, in chamber music ensembles and as an accompanist. She has a preference for contemporary repertoire.

Vermote teaches at the conservatory of Hogeschool Gent: she teaches courses in accompaniment and music education in the guitar department.

Petra Vermote writes music for a wide variety of instrumentations and genres: voice and ensemble, pure instrumental work for ensemble and orchestra and work for diverse chamber music instrumentations. She also has a particular interest in music theatre, dance and animation film, and interculturality. Vermote writes in Spanish, Italian, German, English, French, Dutch, Hebrew and Russian.
