Pieter Matthynssens (°1981) is both a cellist and art historian. He is the co-founder, co-artistic director and a playing member of the Belgian Nadar Ensemble.

Together with his father, Matthynssens conducts the orchestra of St-Niklaas’s academy, which has led to performances of creations by Jorge Sánchez-Chiong and Vladimir Gorlinsky, and of works by Iannis Xenakis, Lars Petter Hagen, Michael Maierhof, Alexander Mossolov, Arvo Pärt and Dmitri Kourliandski.
