After graduating as an engineer, Stefan Prins (°1979) studied piano and composition with Luc Van Hove at the Conservatory in Antwerp, where he obtained his master's degree in composition magna cum laude. Prins also studied technology with Peter Swinnen in Brussels, sonology in The Hague, Philosophy of Culture and Philosophy of Technology at the Antwerp University.
His compositions have been played worldwide by various ensembles. Prins is closely involved with Nadar Ensemble, a new Belgian ensemble for contemporary music, both as a composer, live-electronics specialist and, together with Pieter Matthynssens, as artistic director. With Thomas Olbrechts and Joachim Devillé he founded Collectief reFLEXible‚ an ensemble that focuses exclusively on free improvised music, often including dance, performance, video, film and installation.
Since 2011, Prins plays laptop in the band Ministry of Bad Decisions, together with Yaron Deutsch on e-guitar and Brian Archinal on drums.
